Mumbai, Mar 24 (UNI) Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 31,855 fresh cases of coronavirus, the highest single day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic, taking the total number of infections in the state to 25,64,881, Health Department said.
Besides, 95 more deaths were also reported, pushing the death toll to 53,684.
Meanwhile, 15,098 patients recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,62,593 across the state.
The state government has so far tested 1,87,25,307 samples for the disease.
With this, the recovery rates sharply goes down and stands at 88.21 per cent. Meanwhile, the fatality rate is 2.08 per cent.
At present, 2,47,299 active patients across the state were undergoing treatment at different Covid centres and hospitals, the department added.
