Optical component provider Browave expects shipments of its core products, including WDM (wavelength division multiplexer), branch modules and 200G/400G silicon photonics devices, to rebound in second-quarter 2021, and gain more momentum starting the third.
It noted that shipments of WDM devices to clients in the UK were affected by the pandemic-induced impacts in the previous two quarters but have begun to rebound recently.
MSOs (multi-system operators) in the US are gearing up for WDM and branch modules to upgrade networks to cope with increasing broadband demand and competition from the increasing popularity of FTTH and 5G FWA applications, according to company sources.
Browave plans to launch a series of new WDM and branch products in the second half of 2021.
The company will begin shipping its 200G/400G silicon photonics devices in the second quarter targeting datacenter and 5G applications, said the sources.
It posted revenues of NT$134 million for February, down 25.17% sequentially but up 67.73% on year. For January-February, revenues totaled NT$313 million.
It generated net profit of NT$229 million (US$8.015 million) for 2020, up 62% from a year earlier.
