WHY KANGANA GOT EMOTIONAL AT ‘THALAIVI’ TRAILER LAUNCH

New Delhi : Kangana Ranaut broke down on Tuesday at the trailer launch of ‘Thalaivi’ in Chennai. Kangana got teary-eyed while talking about her bond with director Vijay and thanked him for encouraging her. She expressed her gratitude towards the director for believing in her as she ventured into the South Indian entertainment industry with ‘Thalaivi’. The Padma Shri recipient said, “Never in my life have I met a man who has not made me feel apologetic about my talent. I’m getting emotional, I’m not usually like that but I want to say that he is one person, who has made me feel good about my talent. Usually the camaraderie they show with a male hero is never shown with an actress. But as a director, I learnt from him how to treat actors and how to show creative partnership.” The movie is set to release on 23 April 2021.

Latham helps Kiwis crush Bangladesh by 5 wickets

Skipper Tom Latham scored a brilliant century to guide New Zealand to a five-wicket win over Bangladesh in the second ODI here on Tuesday. With this win, the hosts have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Latham played an unbeaten knock of 110 runs to help New Zealand chase down the target of 272 runs. Devon Conway also scored 72 runs in the match. Chasing the target, New Zealand witnessed a steady start as opener Henry Nicholls and Martin Guptill scored regular boundaries. Mustafizur Rahman provided Bangladesh with the first breakthrough when he caught and bowled Guptill (20). Soon after that, Mahedi Hasan sent Nicholls (13) back to the pavilion.

The fall of wickets did not stop as Hasan then removed Will Young (1). Devon Conway and Tom Latham then took over and revived New Zealand’s innings. Both took their side past the 150-run mark, with Conway completing his half-century.

New Zealand’s chase was hampered after Conway (72) got run out in the 34th over. James Neesham then joined Latham, who also went on to score his fifty. After the completion of 38 overs, New Zealand’s score read 200/4, with the hosts still needing 72 runs to win from the remaining 12 overs.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 271/6 (Tamim Iqbal 78, Mohammad Mithun 73*; Mitchell Santner 2/51); New Zealand 275/5 (Tom Latham 110*, Devon Conway 72; Mahedi Hasan 2/42).

AN ACTOR’S REJECTION IS VERY PERSONAL, SAYS ADITI RAO HYDARI

Published

on

Aditi Rao Hydari admits she is sensitive. Being thick-skinned is hard for her, despite being in an industry where criticism is part and parcel of a celebrity’s life. “People revel in comparing, pulling people down and criticising. I am very sensitive. So, the thick-skinned thing is hard for me. I feel everything. I will laugh as loudly as I cry and I am okay with that. The whole sensitive side as an actor — I am like that as a person. So, I can have hard days and it is tough but I feel I always try looking at the silver lining,” said Aditi, who was recently seen in the digitally-released film ‘The Girl On The Train’.

She added: “An actor’s rejection is so personal. They are rejecting you. It is always you. It is so personal. It can be very difficult and it can be very heart-breaking.”

Aditi, who will soon be seen in the anthology ‘Ajeeb Dastaans’, and the Tamil rom-com ‘Hey Sinamika’, does not give importance to her bad days. “I am the kind of person who will always look for the sunshine whatever dark spot you put me in so if I am having my bad days I will count my blessings. If somebody walks through the door I’ll find five good things about them rather than two things I don’t like about them,” she said.

Aditi added, “This keeps me happy and upbeat and it helps me to look forward to happy things rather than concentrate on happy stuff because the crappy stuff is there we can’t do away with it. But isn’t it nicer to look at happy things? Otherwise, it is endless.”

BHUMI PEDNEKAR WANTS TO CREATE HER OWN BEAUTY STANDARD

Published

NEW DELHI: Bhumi Pednekar on Tuesday shared that she wants to shatter the industry stereotype of how an actress should look on-screen. Bhumi, who has done remarkable films like her debut ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ — which saw her as an overweight girl on screen — said, “For many, it has always been about the outer physical beauty but gone are those days where people were concerned. My thing was that it doesn’t matter. I am going to change your definition of what a quintessential Hindi film female actress is all about.”

“We are all in this profession – the idea is to perform all these different parts and be a part of these amazing stories that move people, bring about a change about what people think about themselves and that is exactly what I am going to do,” she added.

Bhumi has many such movies under her belt where she battled patriarchy such as ‘Sonchiriya’, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, and ‘Bala’. The actress is looking forward to bring a change by creating her own beauty standard through her films. Bhumi asserted, “I want people to love themselves. I want people to be more accepting of who they are, I want to entertain my audiences for sure and that is my number one priority and I want to leave them with a thought, a positive thought, a thought that will make their world a better place.”

She will be next seen in ‘Badhaai Do’. Besides this, Bhumi also has Karan Johar’s multi-starrer ‘Takht’ in the pipeline.
