Moscow, Mar 24 (UNI) President Vladimir Putin can run for Russia's head of the state again.
Putin's current term ends in 2024.
The State Duma, lower house of parliament, has passed the third reading of a bill allowing Putin to contest the presidential election again, reports Tass.
According to one of the amended provisions of the Russian Constitution, presidential term limits apply to the incumbent president without regard to his previous terms in office. That said, it makes Vladimir Putin eligible for two more presidential terms.
Russians in a referendum last year had overwhelmingly voted in favour of changes to the country’s constitution that enable Putin to potentially stay in power up to 2036.
