Telangana: ‘Suryapet Gallery’s unfortunate incident collapses’

Hyderabad: The unfortunate collapse of the wooden-structured gallery damaged the opening day of the 47th junior national kabaddi championship in Suryapet in the Nalgonda district on Monday. Usually any sport in small towns attracts a large crowd and they even build temporary wooden galleries for the occasion.

On Monday, a large enthusiastic crowd gathered at the SP Office site in Suryapet to watch the match. The specific stand collapsed due to overcrowding, leading to many players’ injuries.

Telangana Kabaddi Association secretary K Jagdishwar Yadav said it was sad that the gallery had collapsed. ‘The local organizers put a lot of effort into holding this tournament and the collapse took place on the first day. But the district officials did a tremendous job in the rescue operations, although the spectators sustained some injuries. “Given the enthusiasm, we are trying to limit the crowd from today,” he said.

Jagdishwar Yadav pleaded for helplessness regarding the crowd control for the citizens. There are not even any mandatory tests for the crowd in front of the entrance of the stadium. “We will try to have the limited crowd and take adequate precautions,” he said.

Kabaddi is one of the contact sports where there is a danger that the virus will spread among the songs of kabaddi, kabaddi.
