
OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R Launch Live Updates: OnePlus has announced its much anticipated OnePlus 9 series for 2021. The OnePlus 9 series will start at Rs 39,999 in India going up all the way to Rs 69,999 for the most expensive variant of the OnePlus 9 Pro.
The OnePlus 9R will start at Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM option and Rs 43,999 for the 12GB RAM option. The phone runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor and has a triple camera at the back.
The OnePlus 9 is priced at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant and Rs 49,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB version. The higher-end OnePlus 9 Pro is priced at Rs 64,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant and Rs 69,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant. The device will be available in three new colours called Morning Mist, Pine Green, and Stellar Black.The Watch is priced at Rs 14,999.

The OnePlus 9 Pro is being announced first with focus on the camera. OnePlus has partnered with Hasselblad for the camera. The OnePlus 9 Pro has a 50MP ultra-wide camera, 48MP main camera. For the 48MP camera, OnePlus 9 Pro is using the Sony IMX 789 sensor, which is exclusive to OnePlus. The OnePlus 9 Pro continues with the curved edge display. It has an aluminium frame on the side. It comes with the Fluid Display 2.0. It has a LTPO display for better battery consumption and efficiency. It automatically adopts refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz depending on the content.
OnePlus 9 Pro runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. It also comes with 5-layer cooling system for better gaming performance. It comes with Warp Charging or Warp Charge T, which will charge the phone to 100 percent in just half an hour.OnePlus 9 has pretty much the same specifications, except it doesn’t get the 50MP ultra-wide camera. The OnePlus 9 gets a flat display as well. This phone runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 as well.
OnePlus Watch also announced. It comes in a circular dial with a 46 mm size and a 1.9-inch AMOLED display. It comes with support for Blood Oxygen monitoring as well. The Watch supports 110 activities. The Watch is water and dust-resistance. It is also Swim-proof.
OnePlus is offering some discount for buyers of its OnePlus 9 series. For one, there is instant discount of Rs 4000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 on OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9 and 9R, respectively, on purchase through SBI credit cards and EMI transactions on OnePlus.in, Amazon.in and across OnePlus Experience Stories, Authorized Stores and Partner Stores.
It will also offer 9 months no cost EMI on the OnePlus 9 Pro and up to 6 months no cost EMI on OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9R, on purchase using major credit cards on Amazon.in and SBI Card - credit cards on OnePlus India website.
Customers can also avail benefits worth Rs 6000 with select Jio prepaid plans.
There will be an instant discount of Rs 2000 on the OnePlus Watch using SBI credit cards and EMI transactions till April 30, 2021.
The OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 go on sale on April 1 and April 15, respectively. The OnePlus Community can get their hands on the new OnePlus 9 Pro on March 31 as part of the early access sale. The Watch can connect to the OnePlus TV. It can be used to navigate content on the TV; including turn the volume up or down or turn the TV on and off. OnePlus Watch can also detect if you watch asleep in front of the TV and after 30 minutes the Watch will instruct the TV to turn off. Again these features are limited to OnePlus TVs. OnePlus is promising two weeks of battery life on the watch, which sounds really good. It will last a week for heavy users. It also comes with Warp Charge from OnePlus phones. It will last one week with just 20 minutes of charge.
OnePlus Watch showcased. It has two buttons on the side, one of which has the name of the brand written on it. The Watch has a circular dial. The Watch case is 46 mm in size. Moonlight silver and Midnight black are the two colours. The Watch has Sapphire Glass. It has a 1.9-inch AMOLED display with more than 50 watchfaces. It comes with Blood Oxygen Level monitoring and Heart-rate monitoring as well.
This one comes with a triple camera at the back. It doesn't have the 50MP camera; rest of camera specifications are the same. It also runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. The OnePlus 9 gets the flat display. It has a fiber-glass polymer frame compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro. Colour options are: Winter Mist, Astral Black and Purple.
OnePlus 9 Pro runs OxygenOS which has more optimisations for better performance. It comes with RAM compression and Virtual RAM. Virtual RAM can turn phone storage into RAM so that phone has more storage to work. The battery size is 4500 mAh on the OnePlus 9 Pro.
As expected the OnePlus 9 Pro runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which comes with 5G support as well. OnePlus 9 Pro has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 as well. The phone also comes with a 5-layer Gaming Grade cooling system to keep the phone cool, even when you are gaming for longer periods of time. It also comes with Warp Charge T, which will get the phone to 100 per cent in just 30 minutes and with wireless charging it will charge to 100 per cent in just 43 minutes.
OnePlus 9 Pro has what the company calls Fluid Display 2.0. It has a LTPO display for better battery consumption and efficiency. It automatically adopts refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz depending on the content. It also has a Super Video resolution feature to optimise video experience on apps like Instagram. It also has HyperTouch for better gaming response.
It continues with the curved design of the earlier OnePlus phones. It has an aluminium frame on the sides. The phone comes in three colours: Morning Mist (silver to black), Pine Green with a matte finish and Stellar Black (matt frosted glass), which has the feel of the original Sandstone seen on the OnePlus One series. OnePlus 9 Pro continues with the curved glass panel, though the company says it has optimised software to reduce accidental touches.
OnePlus also says that it has improved video capabilities. It can now shoot at 8K resolution at 30 frames per second (FPS). It will also shoot 4K at 120fps for professional level slow-motion video. It also comes with NightScape Video 2.0 to offer improved video performance as well, especially in low-light conditions.
OnePlus 9 Pro also comes with 48 MP camera, which is the Sony IMX789 sensor, which is exclusive to the OnePlus series. The 48MP is the main camera. The 50MP is the ultra-wide and macro sensor. It also has a dedicated black and white camera for better monochrome photos. It comes with an 8MP telephoto camera as well. The front camera is 16MP.
The phone also comes with a Hasselblad Pro mode for more features, which has advanced sensor calibration for better colours. OnePlus will also let users shoot in 12-bit RAW mode as well.
OnePlus 9 Pro is being announced first. More natural colour and better High Dynamic Range (HDR) is what the OnePlus 9 Pro camera will offer. Colour accuracy is a key focus on the new OnePlus 9 Pro camera, going by the presentation. The company is showing off some camera samples as well, which look stunning.
It comes with 50MP ultra-wide camera. No distortion either, claims the company, when you are taking an ultra-wide shot. It has a free-flow camera. It can focus as close as 4 cms thanks to the macro sensor as well.
The camera also has the orange shutter button, which is seen on original Hasselblad cameras as well.
Lau says the two brands will also work on improving sensors for future cameras on their smartphones. Jon Diele, VP of Hasselblad is now talking about the partnership. Hasselblad cameras were used to capture the first steps on the Moon. Diele says the OnePlus 9 series has the most advanced mobile photography to offer.
OnePlus CEO and founder Pete Lau is on stage. He's talking about the OnePlus journey, right from the original OnePlus One smartphone. He admits that whenever OnePlus asked users about their feedback, it was always about a better camera. He calls the decision to partner with Hasselblad as a very important one. "Their cameras are work of art," Lau says when talking about the Swedish camera maker.
