Chandigarh: Covid-19 claimed 58 lives in Punjab while 2,319 persons, including 26 students and 12 teachers, tested positive on Monday.
So far, the virus has infected 2,15,409 people, claiming 6,382 lives. Of deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 10 persons died in Hoshiarpur, nine each in Nawanshahr and Jalandhar, four each in Gurdaspur and Amritsar, three each in Bathinda, Faridkot, Tarn Taran and Kapurthala, two each in Ludhiana, Ropar and Mohali and one each in Fazilka, Mansa and Sangrur.
The highest of 341 cases were reported in Ludhiana, while 309 people tested positive in Jalandhar, 295 in Mohali, 230 in Hoshiarpur, 210 in Amritsar, 170 in Patiala, 139 in Kapurthala, 104 in Gurdaspur, 85 in Nawanshahr, 59 in Bathinda 53 in Tarn Taran, 53 in Sangrur, 44 in Pathankot, 41 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 38 each in Faridkot and Muktsar, 36 in Mansa, 26 in Fazilka, 18 in Mansa, 15 in Barnala, nine in Ropar and seven in Ferozepur.
During the ongoing
Covid vaccination drive, 18,971 beneficiaries above the age of 60 and above the age of 45, with co-morbidities were given their first dose. So far, 2,32,512 such people have been vaccinated in the state.
As many as 2,559 health workers received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, taking the overall number of health workers vaccinated to 1,27,042 while 652 health workers were given their second dose. So far, 60,350 health workers have been given the second dose. In the frontline workers’ category, 5,760 received their first dose and 2,166 got their second dose.
