Lightning bandh on NH-2 after one killed in hit and run case

Kangpokpi, March 22 2021:
A 56 year old man died on the spot when an LPG Bullet Tanker hit him near T Khullen village under Kangpokpi police station along NH-2 today between 6.30 pm and 7 pm.
The incident occurred when an LPG Bullet tanker among the convoy bearing Regd No MN04P-0418 heading towards Dimapur side from Imphal hit the man near Brick field at T Khullen village, located a few kilometers away from Kangpokpi DHQs along the highway.
The deceased has been identified as YK Rocky Elton Kani (56), son of (L) YK Luikang of Mayang-khang Ningthoupham village.
The driver of the tanker Ibomcha Singh is absconding.
After the mishap enraged mobs gathered and imposed a lightning bandh along National Highway 2 stranding hundreds along the highway.
The dead body was claimed at around 9 pm and the lightning bandh lifted after assurance of nabbing the culprit at the earliest on the part of the authority concerned.
Meanwhile, an FIR was reportedly registered at Senapati Police station for rash and careless driving in connection with the incident.
