What David Dobrik Said in His Second Apology Video
David Dobrik has apologized for what he called an "unfair power dynamic" in a second apology video amid the ongoing controversies surrounding the Vlog Squad.
The YouTuber uploaded another video to his channel on March 23, simply titled "03/22/21."
"I want to be able to do this, to shoot directly to the camera and just talk to you guys," he began.
Recent days also saw online content creators the Vlog Squad embroiled in controversy when an allegation of rape was made against Dominykas Zeglaitis, another former member of the crew who goes by the name Duerte Dom.
The allegations against Zeglaitis have been made by a woman who featured in a since-deleted 2018 Vlog Squad video about group sex.
The woman accused Zeglaitis of rape by engaging in sexual activity with her when she was too drunk to consent.
The situation has seen a number of brands sever ties with the content creator.
"I have put myself in a lot of situations where I have needed to apologize for my past actions, and I have never done this correctly and never done this respectfully," Dobrik, 24, said in Tuesday's video. "My last video is a testament to that. I don't want to defend that video, I don't want to delete that video."
The first video titled "Let's Talk" was released by Dobrik on March 17.
Speaking about the allegations against Zeglaitis in the latest video, Dobrik said: "I fully believe the woman who came out against Dom that she was sexually assaulted and raped by him. As it was reported, the next day, I got consent to post the video. Even though I got the consent to post the video, I should have never posted it. What I understand now, and what I didn't understand before is that she sent that text because she felt like she said to, not because she wanted to and that's f***** up, and I am sorry."
He also apologized to the girls for putting them in an environment that he "enabled and that made them feel their safety and values were compromised."
Dobrik also apologized for creating an "unfair power dynamic."
Continuing to speak about the allegations, Dobrik continued: "I didn't know what was going on in that room, and I should have been. I should have been making sure everybody involved was taken care of and wasn't uncomfortable."
Dobrik also apologized to the victims and said: "I am sorry that I took Dom's words for what happened. In those certain situations that I did not believe you, and not only did I not believe you, but I also made a joke about what type of person Dom was. I couldn't wrap my head around a childhood friend of mine doing this to people and actually hurting people, and I am sorry for that."
Dobrik ended his video to say he is taking a break from social media and that urged that he will consider "where the jokes end and where feelings begin" when creating content in the future.
Dobrik was also previously forced to apologize to Seth Francois last week over a prank he and Jason Nash orchestrated in 2017, which Francois has claimed was sexual assault.
