OnePlus has just announced its next flagship phone and that wasn’t the only product we saw. We also got the OnePlus Watch.
Alongside the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus has also just launched its brand-new smartwatch. Here’s everything you need to know.
OnePlus Watch Price and Release Date – Lots of unknowns
OnePlus has not yet shared the release date for its first smartwatch yet and that will follow in the coming weeks.
We do know the UK price though – £149. That’s on the lower-end of smartwatch pricing, especially when compared to watches from Samsung and Apple. For example, the Apple Watch Series 3 starts at £199/$199.
OnePlus Watch Design – Familiar
The OnePlus Watch has a whiff of the Galaxy Watch about it. It has a circular face, buttons on the sides for navigation and no crown. The case itself is 46mm and is made from stainless steel with 2.5D glass covering over the screen. OnePlus also said the Watch has a ‘CD pattern’ on the display’s bezel.
Important features like a 5ATM and IP68 ratings are here, a must for swimmers. There are various strap options too in a number of colours and finishes.
OnePlus will sell another version of the Watch too which will have a cobalt alloy construction and a sapphire glass face. OnePlus said this cobalt is twice as hard and more corrosion resistant than traditional stainless steel.
We haven’t got our wrists on the OnePlus Watch yet so you’ll have to get on idea of how it looks from the images below.
OnePlus Watch Features – Built for fitness, and controlling your TV
One of the most important things to note about the Watch is that it doesn’t run Wear OS like many of the best smartwatches around. Instead, OnePlus is using its own software in an effort to boost battery life.
OnePlus has packed the Watch with fitness features, including GPS, blood oxygen monitoring, stress detection, breathing training and more. It should also be able to track 110+ workout types. This is, of course, alongside typical features like distance, speed and calorie tracking.
There’s 4GB storage for storing offline songs and OnePlus said it is compatible with most Bluetooth earbuds for streaming your tunes.
Fitness aside, the Watch combines well the brand’s TV range. If you have a Watch TV you can not only control volume, but it’ll also let you know when you fall asleep and turn off the television. Handy.
In terms of battery life, OnePlus is saying the Watch can go 2 weeks between charges. If you’re a heavy user, this will be more like 1 week. And like the phones, there’s Warp Charge to quickly juice things back up again.
