Hazaribagh, Mar 23 (UNI) Five children, including four girls, drowned in a pond located at Gadokhar village under Katkamdag police station area of this district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Kajal Kumari (14), Nikita Kumari (13), Durga Kumari (11), Riya Kumari (11) and Rishu Kumar (10).
The villagers took the children out of the pond and rushed them to hospital where they were declared dead by the doctors.
Villagers said that all the children lived in the same neighbourhood of the village.
They went for a bath in the pond to beat the heat and one of them slipped into deep water and started drowning.
When the other children saw him drowning they tried to rescue him but unfortunately all of them slipped into deep water.
