Team India's innings went through ebbs and flows of its own as it started on a sedate note, witnessed an increase in the tempo, looked great for a huge total, lost wickets in clumps and then saw a massive comeback through debutant Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul's unbeaten partnership.

Shikhar Dhawan, along with Rohit Sharma had a sedate start to their innings as they were 39/0 in the first 10 overs. Dhawan was batting on 20 off 33 balls. After the first 10 overs, both batsmen opened up and started to play their shots. Rohit unfortunately, got out for 28. However, that was a blessing in disguise as Dhawan really opened up and the creaming drives started to flow.

Dhawan got confidence from skipper Virat Kohli at the other end as he was smacking and looked in great touch. His strike rotation got better and the runs started to flow. He brought up his half-century with a six off leg-spinner Adil Rashid off 68 balls and picked up his strike rate after reaching the milestone.

Both batsmen brought up their respective half-centuries. However, as Kohli was dismissed on 56, Dhawan couldn't continue for long as well as he was dismissed for 98, two runs agonisingly short of his 18th ODI century.

India lost wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya as well in quick succession and were really staring down the barrel. However, Krunal's counterattack along with KL Rahul playing a perfect foil to him helped India recover and smash the England bowlers around the park.

Krunal was the aggressor as he took on the bowlers from the outset. His range of strokeplay was on full display as he hit them all. He brought up his maiden fifty in just 26 balls and remained unbeaten on 58 off just 31 balls. KL Rahul, on the other hand, hot four fours and as many sixes as he played a brilliant hand of 62 runs off just 42 balls to stitch an unbeaten partnership of 112 runs with Krunal to help India get to 317/5
