Chandigarh: On the occasion of world water day, the launch of catch the rain- “where it falls when it falls”, posters and pamphlets were launched by Sh. K P S Mahi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. Ms. Sanjana Vatts,
District youth officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Saurav Arora, PCS, Joint Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh, Rajiv Tewari, Director Public Relations, UT Chandigarh and Bikram Rana, State Liasion Officer, NSS were also present. Catch the rain campaign is being launched at the National level under National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of water resources, Rd & GR, Government of India, to nudge the States and other stakeholders to create appropriate Rainwater harvesting Structures, suitable to the climatic conditions and sub-soil strata before the monsoon. Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh under the mission is conducting awareness campaign throughout the District by organizing webinars by topic experts, awareness through wall paintings, Nukkad Natak, knowledge competitions- Essay writing, poster/ painting competitions, slogans writing and door to door awareness campaigns by a team of active Youth volunteers.
