Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a murder case in Muradnagar. Shahrukh, was shot dead on Sunday afternoon by a group of people over an old enmity.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Mukul Kumar, a resident of Muradnagar. Earlier, two people — Aman & Shresth — were arrested in the case.
“Shahrukh had a criminal record and several cases, including those under the Gangsters Act, Arms Act and attempt to murder, had been registered against him in Muradnagar and nearby police stations,” a police officer said.
Around 12pm on Sunday, Aman came and asked Sharukh to come along with him. Suspecting the motive, Zeeshan, Shahrukh brother’s along with his relative followed them on a motorcycle.
As Shahrukh and Aman reached a temple near Rawali road, other accused started firing at Shahrukh and killed him at the spot. The accused escaped from the spot.
Dr Iraj Raza, SP Rural, said that during interrogation, Mukul told police that Shahrukh and Himanshu, one of the accused, had an old enmity a few days ago. After which, Himanshu had made a plan to kill Shahrukh.
“All accused persons have been booked under sections 302 (punishment for murder), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. There are more suspects in the case and police are trying to nab them,” the offcier added.
