MUMBAI: As part of its mosquito abatement programme, the BMC has urged public and semi-government establishments to prevent water collection that can turn into mosquito breeding spots.
BMC officials said that in the last 5 years, commendable work has been done by the BMC for the prevention of malaria.
Officials said that the BMC was working towards the objective of eradicating malaria by the year 2030 and for this, the cooperation of all government and semi-government agencies is required.
Officials said that this year too, all the agencies should complete works like mosquito proofing and disposal of waste and scrap materials before April 30 in the offices and premises under their jurisdiction. “Otherwise, legal action will be taken. All agencies must ensure that mosquitoes will not breed anywhere in their premises,” municipal commissioner Iqbal Chahal said.
The BMC’s mosquito abatement committee headed by Chahal met on Tuesday.
