Ghaziabad: The district magistrate on Monday directed the health department to send warning letters to medical officer in-charges of four blocks — Rajapur, Bhojpur, Muradnagar and Loni — which reported low turnout of vaccine recipients in the phase-3.
Moreover, lekhpals have been directed to get at least 200 recipients vaccinated every day in their areas.
DM Ajay Shankar Pandey also expressed concerns over the low turnout of frontline workers and directed various department heads to ensure that all their officials identified for the drive take Covid shots in next three days.
TOI had earlier highlighted both the problems in its reports. The vaccination coverage in rural areas is just 8% as compared to 46% in urban areas in Ghaziabad.
The orders were passed during a review meeting called by the DM . Pandey also sought a clarification from the primary health centre in-charge of Tyori in Bhojpur where only one person has been vaccinated so far. The meeting discussed why a few number of frontline workers are coming forward to get inoculated. Against the target of 426 beneficiaries from the revenue department, Covid jabs have been taken by only 263. A list of 9,097 cops was received from the police department, but only 6,640 personnel have been vaccinated.
Similarly, 6,915 people have been identified in urban development departments, against which only 1,709 have taken shots. Against the target of 328 staff from Panchayati Raj, only 280 took jabs.
It was brought to the notice that Covid vaccination of officers and employees of Ghaziabad Development Authority has not been done so far. The DM said a letter should be sent to the government seeking vaccination of GDA staff.
