Alzarri Joseph all set to debut in the County Cricket, Will play for Worcestershire: West Indian pace bowler Alzarri Joseph, currently playing for his team in the Test series against Sri Lanka, will represent the county Worcestershire in this year’s County Championship. The 24-year old would leave for UK after the completion of the series against Sri Lanka and would be available to play the first seven matches of the Championship for his new team.
A highly-talented pacer, Joseph hasn’t yet been able to make a big splash in Test cricket. So far, he has just 34 wickets in 15 matches with no five-wicket hauls. He has been more successful in ODIs, picking up 54 wickets in 34 games with one five-wicket haul.

The stint for Worcestershire may be the boost needed by Joseph to take his career to the next level. It can be recalled that former Indian seamer Zaheer Khan become much more successful at the international level after playing a season for the same county in the 2006 season.
Joseph, who hails from Antigua, happens to possess good pace. He first made a mark by representing West Indies at the Under-19 World Cup in 2016. One of his most memorable performances came in the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) when he picked up astonishing figures of 6/12 in his very first match of the tournament.
However, with him not finding a spot in this year’s IPL, he has the opportunity to finesse his skills in the county cricket.
“I am thrilled to be joining Worcestershire for the early part of the summer. When I heard the club was interested in me, I had no hesitation in saying yes. The club has a strong squad with a nice balance of youth and experience, and I’m really looking forward to working with bowling coach Alan Richardson,” Joseph said after the announcement of his joining Worcestershire.
