KTR extends the date for setting up meters for free water scheme until the end of April

Hyderabad: The Minister of IT and Municipal Administration, KT Rama Rao, on Monday extended the time for the repair of the meters through agencies to claim 20,000 liters of free water scheme until the end of April.

The last date for setting up meters was March 31st. Rama Rao announced this while answering a question posed by the MLC MS Prabhakar Rao in the Telangana Legislative Council here. Rama Rao said 95 percent of the compounds, excluding commercial compounds, would benefit from the scheme linked to Aadhaar.

He said customers could fix meters of the 24 agencies with an emblem, adding that the state government would spend 500 million euros for the scheme and that every amount used under the scheme was liable.

The people, especially women in the united Andhra Pradesh, hosted protest marches at the office of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board during the summer.

But the situation has now changed by providing water to all the households without any interruption, Rama Rao said the water is supplied by railway wagons in Chennai and Lathur.
