HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has announced salary hikes for all its employees from April 1, 2021.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared that all 9,17,797 employees and pensioners will get 30 per cent of fitment from the next financial year.
The KCR government has also increased the retirement age of State government employees from existing 58 to 61.
Making a statement in the state assembly on Monday, the chief minister said the enhanced salaries would also be applicable to contract employees, out-sourcing employees, home guards, village revenue assistants, grant in aid employees, Sarwa Shiksha Abhiyan employees, worked charged, daily wage workers, anganwadi workers, Asha workers, SERF employees and vidya volunteers.
The state government had constituted a committee headed by former IAS officer CR Biswal in 2018 to revise the pay scale of state government employees.
The committee had recommended 7.5% fitment, but the chief minister increased four times the recommended fitment.
Chandrasekhar Rao said on the advice of PRC, new guidelines would be framed for employees’ health scheme and a steering committee would be appointed for this.
"The 15 per cent additional quantum of pension, which is given to the retired employees and teachers, will be given at the age of 70 instead of 75. Similarly, retirement gratuity will be increased to 16 lakh from 12 lakh,” the CM said.
Considering the long pending demand of the employees' unions, the CM said inter-district transfers would be permitted soon. The promotions and transfers would be taken up based on the seniority of employees in the erstwhile districts.
KCR also announced new school assistant posts equal to headmaster cadre in the schools.
The Telangana government last revised the pay scales in 2014 where the CM announced 43 fitment soon after the formation of the state.
He said the state employees participated in the Telangana movement and also Sakala Janula Samme (strike) during the movement.
