GURUGRAM: To check the spread of Covid-19 and prevent overcrowding at Gurugram railway station, it has been decided to increase the price of platform tickets from Rs 10 to Rs 30. The hiked price will remain in place till June 15.
For its proximity to Delhi, the station remains quite busy with around 12 trains passing via it.
Apart from Jaipur, people also take trains from here for Mumbai and Vadodara.
Railway officials said that in the wake of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in a few states and UTs, including Delhi, and to control passengers at the railway station, the railways have once again increased the price of platform tickets from March 19 at all stations falling under northern railway division.
“It is a temporary measure by the railways for the safety of passengers and to prevent overcrowding at stations. To deter more people from visiting the station, the platform ticket charges are increased from time to time after assessing ground situation. The power to change charges of platform tickets has been delegated to DRMs due to field management requirement,” a statement read.
