New Delhi: Market regulator Sebi on Monday invited applications for an internship program in its Information Technology (ITD) division, giving interns the opportunity to work on data analysis and FinTech. The regulators will receive a monthly allowance of up to Rs 30,000, the regulator said in a notice.
Under the program, interns will have the opportunity to work on various information technology (IT) projects, including data analytics, regulatory business processes and reporting, and FinTech at Sebi. Such projects offer the interns an exceptional opportunity to apply their IT and data analysis skills while gaining valuable exposure to the workings of the Indian capital markets.
“With a view to providing practical training to students of educational institutions, Sebi would like to work with them to accept up to ten interns under its Sebi ITD Internship Program 2021,” according to the notice. Consequently, interests on or before April 10, 2021, from eligible institutes were invited to participate in the Sebi ITD internship program.
It is proposed that the internal program will consist of a continuous period of at least 1 year, which may consist of two semesters and 1 summer / winter internship period or 3 trimesters and 1 summer / winter internship period.
Sebi’s ITD works intensively to establish, maintain and improve the IT infrastructure, systems and services in the regulator. These IT systems not only support automation and decision making of internal processes, but also strengthen Sebi’s oversight and oversight of capital markets. Furthermore, Sebi’s IT systems also engage with different market participants, such as mutual funds, brokers, portfolio managers and investment advisers.
This program is intended for students of such educational institutions offering a full-time AICTE-recognized MBA or MCA or an equivalent two-year degree or diploma. Such institutes must be recognized by the University Grants Commission or by any other commission established under an Indian Parliament Act.
The regulator said the admission requirements for trainees should be that candidates must pursue a full-time MBA / MCA or an equivalent degree or diploma of a two-year period from an institute, and a full-time postgraduate degree in engineering or ‘ a BCA degree.
In addition, candidates must have a strong aptitude for computer programming and data analysis, and a basic understanding of financial markets is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates must, among other things, have a minimum mark of 60 percent at graduate level.
For trainees who go to Sebi internship for 3 days a week, they will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 25 000, while those who stay for 4 days a week will receive Rs 30 000 per month.
