The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office is searching for information about a fatal shooting at a Sunday morning party near the city of Spurger.

Chief Deputy Jeff Mashaw reported Monday that deputies were called out to a home on Farm to Market 1013 west of Spurger at around 1:45 a.m. They found a man had been shot multiple times in the chest and neck.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jim Moore and was transferred to a funeral home in Woodville. An autopsy is planned for later in the week in Beaumont.

Law enforcement is still looking into the scene but is requesting information from anyone who may know what happened.

Deputies reported more than 100 people were at the party where the man was killed, but Mashaw said those in attendance were hesitant to give any information that would help law enforcement identify people involved.

People with information were asked to call the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office at (409) 282-2172 or Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS.
