AJMER: Bhilwara district, where curfew was imposed on March 20, 2020 because of Covid, is on the alert again. It may be recalled that the Bhilwara model to check the spread of the virus had become a hit across the country last year.
Last year, the first case in Bhilwara was reported after an infected patient from overseas went to a private hospital infecting several people. On March 20, there were six infected positive cases in the district following which the administration imposed curfew. As on Saturday last, 31 positive cases were reported in Bhilwara and 12 patients are currently admitted in the Covid ward of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. In all, around 12,667 patients have been infected in the district so far in addition to 181 fatalities.
Looking at another wave of Covid, district collector Shiv Parsad held a meeting with local leaders to ensure strict adherence to guidelines. To control the situation, the administration decided to strictly impose social distancing and decided to keep a check on it through drones. The administration also warned marriage gardens not to conduct any function without prior permission.
