COIMBATORE: The Karumathampatti police in Coimbatore district arrested a couple on Sunday night for possessing ganja. The police seized 152 kg of ganja from the couple, identified as M Natarajan, 50, of Thevaram in Theni district and his wife, N Kalavathi, 55.
The couple took a house on rent at Karumathampatti 20 days ago and stored ganja there. The police got a tip-off and conducted a search in the house on Sunday night. They seized 76 packets of ganja (total 152 kg) from the house.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the couple had bought the contraband from Vijayawada and were to transport it to Kerala to sell.
The couple will be produced in a court on Tuesday afternoon.
