NDA symbolises hope, Cong stands for loot, says NaMo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigns for AGP’s Atul Bora in Bokakhat on Sunday
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, the second day of his back-to-back election campaign in Assam, declared that for the ‘doosri baar’, the state will have an NDA ‘sarkar’.
After addressing tea garden workers at Chabua on Saturday, Modi returned to Assam on Sunday to campaign for ally AGP at Bokakhat. AGP president Atul Bora is contesting from the constituency, which includes Kaziranga National Park — home to the famed one-horn rhinocerous — where the Prime Minister attacked Congress on protecting forest and rhinos from poachers.
Exuding confidence of a clean sweep in the assembly election, the Prime Minister said, “Seeing the massive crowd in today’s meeting, I am sure that we are winning the elections in Assam.”
“It is decided that Assam will get ‘double engine ki sarkar’, ‘doosri baar, BJP sarkar’, ‘doosri baar, NDA sarkar’,” Modi said, six days before the first phase of election.
“Today I can respectfully say to all our mothers, sisters and daughters sitting here that we have worked hard to fulfil the responsibility and expectations, with which you elected the BJP government,” he added.
He said the ‘double engine sarkaar’ of the NDA government ensured the availability of free gas cylinders, LPG, electricity and free healthcare to people of the state, the Prime Minister said.
“During Congress’s reign, the main question was to save the loot of Assam from Congress. Under NDA, Assam is heading towards new highs,” the PM said.
He said the NDA government saved rhinos of the state that the previous Congress-led government failed to. “The NDA government has put rhino hunters in jails. We are working on the safety of animals as well as facilities for people of Assam,” he said.
“All our sanctuaries, including Kaziranga, are our heritage, our responsibility towards the environment and also the means of livelihood. I am happy that the forest area in Assam has increased in the last five years,” he added.
Listing developmental schemes undertaken in Assam, Modi said in the last five years, Assam saw a growth in forest cover.
