Ranchi, Mar 22 (UNI) AJSU leader Ganga Narayan Singh on Monday joined the BJP in a function held at state BJP headquarters here.
Leader of the legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi, Deoghar
MLA Narayan Das, State General Secretary of the party Aditya Sahu were also present on the occasion.
Babulal Marandi said that the party will be strengthened in the Deoghar district post the joining of Ganga Narayan Singh.
Ganga Narayan Singh on his part said that since childhood days he use to raise slogans for the BJP and now he has become the soldier of the party. He said that without any lust or desire he will work for the party.
Ganga Narayan Singh said that for the honour of the villages and the poor he had joined the BJP and being a soldier of the party he would be now working for the betterment of the poor and the villages and will also take the thoughts of the Prime Minister across the villages.
With the joining of Ganga Narayan Singh, it has become all clear that he would be a BJP candidate for the by-polls to the Madhupur seat of the Jharkhand assembly. It is expected that in one or two days his name will be officially declared by the central committee of the party.
In the Vidhan Sabha elections which were held in 2019 December as an AJSU candidate, Ganga Narayan Singh had stood at the third position having secured 45,620 votes. The seat was won by JMM candidate Haji Hussain Ansari who later went on to become the Minorities Welfare minister in the Hemant Soren government.
Unfortunately on October 3, 2020, Haji Hussain Ansari passed away in a city hospital after which the seat became vacant. In his place, his elder son Hafizul Hasan has been made a cabinet minister by the JMM which means that he will be contesting as a JMM candidate from the seat which has been earlier represented by his father.
The inclusion of Ganga Narayan Singh also means that BJP will not be fielding its previous candidate Raj Paliwar who had lost to Haji Hussain Ansari by a margin of 23,069 votes.
