Some pamphlets with a negative report test COVID positive at Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad: Several international passengers who traveled negatively COVID-19 reports were found positive for the pathogen when tested on arrival at the international airport here, airport sources said.

According to them, cases of international passengers are found positive in tests carried out at the airport, despite a negative report.

Union Health Minister Anuradha Medoju confirmed that such cases had been noted and said that the information on positive matters was being shared with government officials for quarantine and other purposes.

However, the official said she did not immediately have information on the number of passengers.

State health officials could not be reached for comment.

According to airport sources, those arriving from the Middle East and the UK are compulsorily tested, while passengers from countries such as the US, Singapore and the Maldives are allowed to return home if they have a negative 72-hour RT-PCR report.

Although it is doubtful that some may expire their test reports to travel, the airport sources said in case of positive results with their arrival, it may be due to the rapid incubation of virus (during the trip).

It was also possible that someone could be tested negative for some reason before the trip, even though he was actually carrying the virus.
