A 2014 Lotus Evora S 2+2 finally found its first owner in 2021.
Secor Lotus in New London, Conn., sold the Evora last month for about $70,000, roughly $20,000 below its sticker price, after seven years of waiting for a buyer. Car and Driver concluded that it was "unofficially the oldest new car for sale in America." The Lotus has fewer than 100 miles on the odometer, but the factory warranty is long expired.
The dealership's general manager, Steve Plona, said the car sat for so long because he refused to discount it as much as other dealers were doing at the time.
"It was a protest to some schemes of the pricing people had," he told the magazine. "I think it's an undervalued brand."
