Greater Noida: The second case under UP’s recent conversion law in the city was lodged against a youth after a woman filed a complaint alleging that he established physical relations with her and lied about his religion.
The woman, who is from Farukkhabad district, said she met the accused in March 2020, when he identified himself as “Sonu” from Badaun district. The accused and the woman work in different private firms in Kasna area.
The woman said in her complaint that they grew closer over the next few months, but whenever she would ask him to get married to her, he would put off the proposal on some pretext or the other. The accused allegedly threatened her that he would kill her and her brothers if she married someone else.
Vivek Trivedi, the SHO of Kasna police station, said that on Friday, the woman saw the Aadhaar card of the accused, where his name was mentioned as Fehzaan Malik, a resident of Bijnour district. Fehzaan was arrested on Saturday and booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), sections 3 (2) (V) of the SC/ST Act and sections 3 and 5 (1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020.
The first case under the controversial law was lodged in December last year, when a boy was booked for allegedly harassing a minor girl sexually over the past one and a half years.
