England, on Sunday, announced the 14-men squad for the upcoming three-match one-day international series against India in Pune, starting March 23. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also confirmed that star pacer Jofra Archer will not be part of the series and will also miss the first part of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in a big blow to Rajasthan Royals.
According to the ECB, Archer's elbow issues deteriorated during the five-match T20I series and it needs attention for him to get back to his full bowling potential.
"Jofra Archer is returning to the UK for further management and investigation of his right elbow injury," an ECB release said.
"The ECB medical team will assess the player and, together with Jofra, develop a treatment plan and a return-to-play schedule in due course. As a consequence, Jofra will miss the start of this year’s Indian Premier League," the release added.
