LUCKNOW: A 23-year-old woman has been arrested by Sultanpur police for staging her own murder to frame a man with whom she has a property dispute.
The woman, Sanghamitra went missing on March 14. Two days later, her parents received a video on WhatsApp showing her body with the message that the murder was committed by Motkau Tiwari. A police probe though later revealed that Sanghmitra was alive and living in Samastipur, Bihar after marrying one Nazim. She was arrested after which she confessed to her crime.
SP Sultanpur Arvind Chaturvedi said police examined whether there was any dispute between Sanghamitra’s family and Motkau. “They had a dispute. Surveillance teams checked last location of Sanghamitra’s phone and found it was switched off around 11pm on March 14. The further probe revealed that Sanghamitra also used another number which was active in Samastipur, while the number with which she was in touch with was also active there,” said the officer.
FSL reports also showed the video shared via WhatsApp was flimsy, said the officer.
“The woman was finally traced in Samastipur. She was arrested and brought to Sultanpur on Friday,” said the officer.
