North East Festival brings back live events to Gurgaon

With folk dances, a scintillating fashion show and some energetic musical performances, live events made a grand comeback to Gurgaon in the form of the 12th edition of the Celebrating North East festival, which was inaugurated on Saturday at CyberHub. The star-studded opening night of the festival saw fashion designers from the North East showcase their collections while some of the most popular musical talents from the region enthralled the audience.

The annual festival is being organised by the North East Institute of Fashion Technology in association with the Union Ministry of Tourism and Northeast India-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce. Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale was the Chief Guest for the evening, while Bounneme Chouanghom, Ambassador of Lao PDR was the Guest of Honour.

The show began with a traditional folk dance performance before a fashion show featuring designers and models from the North East. The fashion show showcased a designer take on traditional clothes and outfits from the region. The highlight of the evening were musical performances by Richa Bharadwaj and Zubeen Garg. Zubeen, who is known for his work in Assamese, Bangla and Hindi music industries, sang some of his most successful renditions in both Hindi and Assamese as well as songs in other languages from the North East.
