Hyderabad: Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed Water Resources officials to complete the works on the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) by the end of December this year. He also wanted them to work with full dedication and complete all the works of the pending projects in the Krishna basin in a timely manner.

At a high-level meeting held here in Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, the prime minister examined the progress made with PRLIS and the need to speed up the works. He recalled that his speeches were never concluded without mentioning the water crisis in Mahabubnagar and the problems of Nalgonda during the separate Telangana state movement.

“The rulers of the time deliberately kept Telangana projects hanging. After the founding of the state, these pending projects are completed one by one. People with certain interest created problems and obstacles for the completion of the Palamuru Rangareddy project by filing cases in the courts and obtaining residence orders. But still we continue with the determination with more determination, ”he said.

The state government completed pending projects such as Kalwakurty, Nettempadu, Bhima and partial works of Jurala and became fertile 11 lacres in southern Palamuru. The prime minister asked officials to draw up an action plan to complete unfinished work at a rapid pace. ‘The works must be continued to get inspiration from the Kaleshwaram project. In any case, the works on the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme must be completed by December, ”he added.

Chandrashekhar Rao proposed that Krishna river water be drawn down to make Palamuru a fertile and crop-producing land. He said that this project can be linked to the Jurala project. He also talked to ministers and officials about acquiring land for the Lift Irrigation Scheme, rehabilitation measures, setting up the power stations, digging the canals, setting up the pumps and related works. He also discussed in detail about funds needed for the acquisition of land, hanging works, needed reservoirs and other works.
