Cabbie held hostage by two, car snatched

Gurgaon: Two youths allegedly snatched a cab and cash from a 34-year-old driver on Friday night near Sector 56 market. According to the complainant, Farukh Khan, the accused had thrashed him and held him hostage too.
Khan had bought a Swift Dzire in 2019 and since then he has been working with an app-based cab aggregator, he told police.
He was waiting for a trip in Sector 56 marketin Sector 56 marketin Sector 56 market when the two youths asked him to drop them at Subhash Chowk.
“I demanded Rs 300 for the ride and they agreed. After covering a distance, one of the youths pulled out a gun and he;d me hostage,” Khan said, adding that he was forced to stop the cab. The accused forced him out of the car and fled with it .
On the basis of his complaint, a case was registered at Sector 56 police station under sections 392 (robbery), 365 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
“We are scanning the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in and around sector 56 market to identify the accused,” a police spokesperson said.
