THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the scrutiny of the nominations, 1,061 nominations were accepted out of the total 2,180 nominations received in different districts. The last date for withdrawing the nomination is March 22.
Malappuram with 139 has the highest number of candidates in the fray and Wayanad with 20 has the lowest. Koduvally constituency in Kozhikode has the highest number of contesting candidates -14.
The district-wise nominations that have been accepted after the scrutiny are Kasaragod (41), Kannur (82), Wayanad (20), Kozhikode (117), Malappuram (139), Palakkad (80), Thrissur (80), Ernakulam (110), Idukki (29), Kottayam (70), Alappuzha (65), Pathanamthitta (37), Kollam (84), Thiruvananthapuram (107).
The total nominations received for the assembly elections after the last date for filing were 2,180. The highest number of nominations received were in Malappuram - 235, followed by Kozhikode (226) and Ernakulam (219).
Among the total nominations received before scrutiny,1,922 were male candidates and 215 women candidates. The maximum number of women candidates who filed the nominations were in Kollam -
26. Ernakulam has 25 women candidates, Kozhikode 24, Kottayam 23 and Alappuzha has 20 women candidates. There is one transgender candidate who has filed the nomination in Malappuram.
