Gurgaon: The chief security officer of a private developer was allegedly attacked in front of his house in Dharam Colony by two unidentified armed men on Friday. He had a narrow escape as the pistol of one of the accused jammed. The reason behind the attack is not clear yet, police said.
Chandrapal, resident of Dharam Colony, is the chief security officer of Bestech Developers. He was sitting in front of his house around 8am on Friday when two masked youths on two-wheelers stopped near him. One of the men allegedly whipped out a gun and opened fire, but the pistol jammed. Chandrapal tried to flee, but the other youth too fired at him, and he sustained injuries on his hand.
Hearing the gunshot, neighbours came out on the street and tried to apprehend the youths, but they managed to escape. While driving away, they fired several rounds at the assembled people.
“Chandrapal was saved because the pistol jammed and people assembled at the spot,” a family member said, adding that they took him to hospital and he is undergoing treatment. The family said they don’t know who is behind the attack as they have no enmity with anyone. An FIR has been filed against the two men under Section 307 (attempt to murder ) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act at Palam Vihar police station. ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said the reason behind the attack is not clear yet. “It will become clear only after we arrest the youths. We are trying to identify them and will nab them at the earliest,” said ACP.
In another case of firing, the crime unit of Sector 31 arrested three people in Sector 38 on Friday for allegedly opening fire at three others over a dispute in Behrampur the day before.
