Hydraulic entrepreneur Syamala becomes the second Indian woman to conquer Palk Strait

Hyderabad; The famous Palk Strait that separates India and Sri Lanka set a record on Friday when Hyderabad-based entrepreneur Goli Syamala swam the 30km stretch in less than 14 hours. achieve the achievement.

Syamala embarked on her mission from Sri Lanka at 04:15 on Friday morning and reached the Indian shore 13 hours and 43 seconds later at Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu. Choudhury did it in 2004.

The 46-year-old Syamala, who started swimming seriously only a few years ago, had previously taken part in major swimming events such as the National Open Water Ganga River swimming competition in which she covered a distance of 13 km in one hour and 50 minutes. .

Syamala trained for her Palk Strait mission at the Telangana State Swimming Pool Sports Authority in Gachibowli.
