What happened in Nandigram
While campaigning in Nandigram on March 10, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee fell down. She injured her left leg, besides her hips, arm, chest, neck. The Trinamool Congress chief was at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata for two days before she returned to the campaign trail.
TMC leaders said that Mamata Banerjee's injury was the result of a conspiracy by the BJP.
The Election Commission took up the matter and sought detailed reports from the Bengal Chief Secretary and special observers. On the basis of these reports, the EC ruled out the possibility of an attack and said the injury seemed accidental.
In addition, the Commission also suspended Mamata Banerjee's chief of security Vivek Sahay and East Midnapore Superintendent of Police Pravin Prakash. The District Magistrate of East Midnapore, Vibhu Goel was also transferred to a non-election post.
