IPL 2021: These MI, DC, RR, CSK, SRH, Punjab Kings bowlers can break Dwayne Bravo’s all-time record of most wickets in IPL season- The is one of the most awaited tournaments in the world. Numerous players, local to global, showcase their skills and become an overnight sensation. The players who do well in the season are often rewarded for their performance and ends up earning a national call up. Similarly, senior players use this opportunity to dominate the entire IPL season to win the IPL crown. Today, we look at some of those names that can break Dwayne Bravo’s record of most IPL wickets in a season. He had taken 32 wickets in IPL 2013. The list includes Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, among others.
Take a look:
IPL 2021: Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals)
The Delhi Capitals and South Africa pacer emerged as the highest wicket-taker of IPL 2020. He took 30 wickets in 17 matches, falling just two wickets behind the magical figure. He had also taken 25 wickets in IPL 2019. Thus, Kagiso Rabada is the leading contender to break Dwayne Bravo’s record in IPL 2021.
IPL 2021: Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)
Mumbai Indians and India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020. He took 27 wickets in 15 matches to become the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020. Earlier in IPL 12, he had scalped 19 wickets to enter the top 5 list. Looking at his growth multiplied with lady luck, Bumrah could break Dwayne Bravo’s record this IPL.
IPL 2021: Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians)
Another MI bowler and Bumrah’s partner in the bowling department, Trent Boult could be the next bowler to break Bravo’s record in the IPL. The Kiwi strike bowler had scalped 25 wickets in 15 IPL 2020 fixtures.
IPL 2021: Imran Tahir (Chennai Super Kings)
Imran Tahir has emerged as the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2019 (26 wickets in 17 matches). But he didn’t get enough opportunities in IPL 2020. The 41-year-old who might be playing his last season can go past Dwayne Bravo’s record.
IPL 2021: Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back in the India squad after recovering from injuries. He had taken the most wickets (26) in IPL 2016 season. If T Natarajan can continue to put pressure from the other end, Bhuvi can benefit from it and might as well break Bravo’s 7-year-old record.
IPL 2021: Rashid Khan (Sunsrisers Hyderabad)
You cannot rule out this champion bowler from SRH. Rashid Khan has the knack of picking up wickets and the addition of fellow Afghan Mujeeb Ur Rahman will help him do the damage from the other end. He had taken 20 wickets in IPL 2020 and 17 in IPL 2019. In season 11, he had bagged 11 wickets.
IPL 2021: Mohammad Shami (Punjab Kings)
The Punjab Kings and India’s key pacer Mohammad Shami has picked 20,19 and 20 wickets in the last three IPL seasons. The only reason he is not able to pick more wickets is that he only got to play 14 matches as opposed to 17 matches by top IPL teams. If KL Rahul-led side can qualify, he might end up breaking Dwayne Bravo’s record.
IPL 2021: Jofra Archer
Like Mohammad Shami, Jofra Archer who picked 20 wickets in the last season also missed increasing his tally. If Rajasthan Royals can enter the playoffs under the leadership of newly-appointed skipper Sanju Samson, Archer has an outside chance of breaking Bravo’s record.
Last but not the least, there is also a possibility that CSK allrounder Dwayne Bravo might end up break his own record.
