Tattoos can mean a lot of things. For some, its culturally important, for others it could be a style statement. But, for the longest time, tattoos in popular-culture have been (wrongly) associated with someone with a ‘thug’ lifestyle, a rule-breaker, or someone not very professional. Though, these perceptions are gradually changing. Professional athletes like basketball players and footballers across the world have been known to sport some ink but the gentleman’s game of cricket isn’t that consistent with that ‘bad-boy’ image.

But, the new generation of Indian cricketers are proving all previous notions wrong. Here are some talented professionals from Team India who are incredible at their game and passionate about inking.

1. Suryakumar Yadav:This young player is making headlines for a phenomenal international T-20 debut against England, with his first ball being a 6 and maiden 50. The player is fond of tats with his parents’ face, tribal sleeve, and many others.

2. Virat Kohli:Captain Kohli has the very typical bad boy image. He is known to abuse on the field, is very aggressive in his play, and quite outspoken. But he also has a soft and fun side as we often see on his social media.Kohli has a number of tattoos including his parent’s names, his ODI and Test cap number, Om symbol, Japanese Samurai, and many more.

3. Umesh Yadav:This fast bowler is not just consistent in his Test and ODI skills, but also in getting inked. Yadav has been inked multiple times, his first tattoo was dedicated to his mother. Further, he has tattoos of Lords Shiva and Buddha and his wife’s name on his body till eternity.

4. Ravindra Jadeja:Once quite famous as “Sir Jadeja” on Twitter, the Indian all-rounder is also famous for his love for tattoos. While most people get their spouses or parent’s names tattooed, Jadeja took self-love to a whole new level and got his own nickname — Jaddu — tattooed on his body apart from horse, flowers, and a dragon.

5. KL Rahul:The young player has great desire for getting inked as proven by the tribal sleeve covering his whole arm. He has smaller tattoos on his other arm and shoulder as well. He has a lighthouse, his parent’s names, and an owl, Test cap number as well as Jersey number.

7. Shikhar Dhawan:Now a senior player, Dhawan has multiple tats on his body including Lord Shiva, Arjuna (from Mahabharath), wife’s name, bird, and motivational phrases.
