BHUBANESWAR: The commissionerate police here on Friday released a sketch of an unidentified woman, whose skeletal remains were recovered from a seized car on the premises of Janla police outpost here last month. The sketch was prepared by a Bangalore-based private forensic consultant after examination of her skull and skeleton.
“The sketch may not be 100% accurate. But it may help us ascertain the identity of the woman. We have circulated her sketch to all police stations in the state as well as in the neighbouring states,” deputy commissioner of police Uma Shankar Dash told media persons.
Mystery continues to shroud the circumstances that had led to the recovery of the woman’s skeletal remains. Police are still at a loss as to how her body landed in the seized SUV, which was parked on the premises of the police outpost. The skeletal remains were found last month when the seized vehicle’s owner had come to take possession of his vehicle following a court’s order. The SUV owner was shocked to find the skeletal remains on the rear seat and informed the police. The commissionerate police had suspended the outpost’s in-charge Satyabrata Grahacharya for dereliction of duty.
The vehicle was seized for transporting ganja in 2019.
