Hyderabad: Hyderabad need a win to qualify for the knockout stages, and committed hara-kiri in their last Elite A league match as they lost by 18 runs to humble Tripura to bow out of the Senior National Women’s Cricket Tournament in Surat on Saturday .
Tripura, who is not out on RR Sinha’s 83, and opening batsman Mouchaity Debnath 71, who was put in the bat, delivered a challenging 239/5 in 50 overs. He scored 240 runs behind the win, and Hyderabad, who were at the top of the standings and needed a win to qualify, were stopped at 221/9 in 40 overs.
Veteran Mamtha Kanojia made a brave 83 (132 balls, 9 × 4) and added 103 runs around the fourth wicket with Anuradha Nayak (44) to keep Hyderabad in the hunt. But when the two batsmen were dismissed, Hyderabad’s challenge ended. Hyderabad ends their campaign with three wins and two losses.
