Punjab report 2,490 cases, 38 deaths

CHANDIGARH: A total of 2,490 people, including 11 teachers and 10 students, were tested positive for Covid-19, while 38 succumbed to the virus in Punjab on Friday.
Of deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 10 people died in Hoshiarpur, seven in Jalandhar, five in Nawanshahr, four in Ludhiana, three in Gurdaspur, and one each in Amritsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Muktsar, Patiala and Tarn Taran.
The highest of 416 cases were reported in Hoshiarpur, while 292 people were tested positive in Ludhiana, 287 cases were reported in Patiala, 258 in Mohali, 253 in Jalandhar, 158 in Gurdaspur, 151 in Kapurthala, 119 in Nawanshahr, 67 in Bathinda, 50 in Tarn Taran, 45 in Sangrur, 31 in Ferozepur, 28 each in Fazilka and Moga, 27 in Pathankot, 25 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 21 in Mansa, 15 each in Barnala and Faridkot, 12 in Muktsar and 11 in Ropar.
In the ongoing Covid vaccination drive, 22,174 beneficiaries in the age group of 60+ and 45+ with co-morbidities were given their first dose. So far, 1,81,334 such people have been vaccinated in the state.
As many as 3,064 health workers received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, taking the overall number of health workers vaccinated to 1,20,693, while 1,137 health workers were given their second dose. So far, 58,758 health workers have been given the second dose. In the frontline workers category, 5,437 received their first dose and 2,119 got their second dose.
