Four dead in chemical plant in Maharashtra

Ratnagiri: At least four workers have been killed and at least one injured in a fire at a Maharashtra chemical plant, police said.

The fire, the cause of which is not clear, was reported at around 09.15 in the Gharda Chemicals Ltd. factory in the MIDC complex Lote-Parshuram.

At least four firefighters and firefighters rushed to the scene to fight the blaze and rescue the workers working there.

‘The five people were trapped inside, and the firefighters managed to save one. The charred bodies of four others were later found in the operation, “an official from the Khed police station told IANS.

The injured worker was rushed to a nearby state hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the four deceased were sent to a morgue for autopsy and other formalities, the official added.
