Centrally sponsored & state managed schemes more impactful in Punjab: ISB study
A joint research study by Punjab Skill Development Mission and ISBs Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing has found that centrally sponsored & state-managed skilling schemes under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2 (PMKVY 2) have been more impactful than those sponsored and managed by the Centre.

HYDERABAD: A joint research study by Punjab Skill Development Mission and ISBs Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing has found that centrally sponsored & state-managed skilling schemes under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2 (PMKVY 2) have been more impactful than those sponsored and managed by the Centre.
The findings were based on the dataset of 1.67 lakh records for the CSCM (centrally-sponsored and centrally managed) and 22,494 records for the CSSM (centrally sponsored and state-managed) programme. As per the findings, the employment status of candidates after completion of training is marginally better in CSSM than CSCM.
Presenting the findings, Professor Chandan Chowdhury, executive director, Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing, ISB, said that the study shows that the CSSM scheme has been more impactful as compared to CSCM scheme in Punjab and recommended that higher funds be allocated to CSSM schemes.
"Female trainees in the CSSM programme have performed significantly better than males in employment… Our analysis indicates that the average salary of the candidates going through the CSSM scheme is higher than that of the candidates going through the CSCM scheme," the study said.
The findings also revealed that the monthly average wage varied between males and females in the CSSM and CSCM schemes and the gender wage gap was higher for the CSCM scheme. The average salary for trainees in the CSSM scheme is higher than that for the trainees in the CSCM scheme for all education levels.
