Hyderabad: Congress spokesman Dasoju Sravan on Friday claimed that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had conceded to false votes in the recent MLC election.
Sravan told ANI: “The Congress party has repeatedly said that the TRS party is entering false votes for the recent MLC election in Telangana.”
Sravan said the TRS leader and chairperson of the Tandur Municipal Corporation in the Vikarabad district of Swapna cast her vote during the Graduate MLC election, although she did not have the right to vote as she is not a graduate.
“I wonder how the returning officer allowed an illegal and fake voter to come and vote,” he added.
The Congress leader said this incident clearly shows how the TRS party abused its authority. “I ask K Chandrashekhar Rao whether he will act against her or not,” he said.
Sravan further said that if Rao has respect for the Constitution, he should immediately expel Swapna from his party. He also demanded that the electoral authorities, especially the chief electoral officer of Telangana, immediately file a criminal case against Swapna and ensure that she is removed from the post of chairperson.
Sravan said of the lake intrusions in the city of Hyderabad that he welcomed the interim ruling of the Telangana High Court ordering the Telangana government to protect the lakes of Hyderabad.
“During Telangana agitations, one of the most important agendas was to protect the thousands of lakes in and around Hyderabad City from intrusions into the city of Hyderabad. These lakes in and around Hyderabad City have always been exposed to transgressions. We therefore had an agenda during the Telangana agitations that all the lakes in Telangana be protected against intrusions, ”he said.
He further said that the TRS government did not protect the lakes and said after the TRS came to power, more intrusions increased.
“On behalf of the Congress Party, we demand that a Hyderabad protection authority be protected for more,” Sravan said.
He further added that, by establishing a lake protection authority, we can not only protect the ecology and the environment but also save Hyderabad from natural disasters like the recent floods in Hyderabad in 2020.
