Hyderabad: 24 student test COVID-19 positive in two residences

Hyderabad: Twenty-two students staying at the Scheduled Tribes (ST) Boys hostel Rajendranagar and two girls from the Osmania University hostel tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

At ST boys’ residence, 92 boarders and staff were tested COVID-19, of which 22 students and one residence officer and guard were found positive.

Those who tested negative were sent to their home.

The 22 COVID- positive students were isolated at their respective residences.

At Osmania University, two girls tested positive after an investigation for Covid-19 in Girls Hostel was done Thursday. The university authorities said they were immediately isolated and that the university was making arrangements to investigate the remaining hostel goers.

In the past, as many as 36 students from the Telangana Minorities Welfare Residential Education Institutions Society (TMWREIS) in Bandlaguda tested positive for COVID-19 and a total of 43 positive points were found in the Zilla Parishad Secondary School (Girls), Mancherial.

Public schools and residences have become the center for COVID-19, with several cases reported in the past few days.

Telangana reported 313 fresh COVID-19 infections and two deaths Thursday, with as many as 2,434 active cases.
