Announces initiatives for women across the country, on International Women’s Day

Ecom Express, a leading technology enabled end-to-end logistics solutions provider to the e-commerce industry, announced the company’s women focussed initiatives on the eve of International Women’s Day. The company also highlighted how it is empowering women across the North East to take up leading roles in the logistics sector. As a new generation tech enabled company, Ecom Express is focussed on encouraging women to build a career in an otherwise male dominated industry.

This International Women’s day Ecom Express announces some key women-led initiatives for employees across the country. Such as:

o A dedicated women’s 24X7 helpline to address grievances to be launched on March 8th which would be accessible to all women employees. This objective of the helpline is to make women employees feel secure about highlighting grievances or any other matters in a safe environment.

o The Reignite Program, a unique program which caters to women who were on a sabbatical for any number of years and any given reason, to come back to work at Ecom Express. To ensure a smooth transition, there will be mentoring programs which helps women to quickly assimilate into the organization environment which supports them in their overall growth and development.

o To empower and encourage more women employees across various sites whether at the Distribution Center (DC), Warehouse or Hub, the Ecom Express team regularly audits various work sites to help improve existing facilities for female employees and have invested significantly to improve infrastructure across these facilities.

o Ecom Express is strongly committed to increase female participation across different functions. At large facilities, the company is targeting a diversity ratio of 50% in the morning batch. Female associates are currently part of the team in last mile delivery and going forward the plan is to open all-women run DCs in various parts of the country. The company is also taking steps toward mass hiring of females for supervisory roles.

Besides these, there are other women friendly policies for working mothers and expectant mothers.

Saurabh Deep Singla, EVP and CHRO, Ecom Express says, “We are proud of the work of our women employees at our North East offices, leading Distribution Centers and Hubs, and working as delivery associates, thus proving that women can do any job, through their grit, determination and commitment. At Ecom Express, we are strongly committed to increase diversity at the workplace and have also announced multiple hiring for women supervisor roles, targeting a diversity ratio of 50%."

There are several example-led stories of women at work leading at the helm. Ecom Express takes pride to have them onboard and salutes their talent, this Women’s Day.

Ragitha Chongtham Devi, a resident of Patsoi village in Manipur, serves as a field executive with Ecom Express where she handles pickups, deliveries and returns. She supports her father who serves as a policeman, and mother as a homemaker and her siblings. Ragita started her career at Ecom Express three years ago, right after completing her graduation. Working as a delivery executive in the field has its own challenges but she feels that the challenges are worth it and helps her be ‘Aatmanirbhar’ and independent while supporting her family.

Dipika Gupta joined Ecom Express’s Tezpur facility in February 2016 but in 2018, due to her mother’s medical condition, she had to quit to take care of her. Six months later she was contacted by Ecom Express and she joined the company’s Delivery Centre (DC) in Guwahati as a Customer Service Executive. During that period, there was a manpower crunch at the DC and she was given the opportunity to step in for the role of acting DC Head to manage the load. Dipika took up the task sportingly and cleared up the backlog of shipments in just a matter of a few days. She had managed her work despite extraordinary situations, such as floods and heavy downpour in the city, etc. and ensured that the shipments reached the customers on time with the support of her team. Seeing her grit and determination, the company promoted her as the Delivery Centre Head at the DC.
