As per a report published in March 2018 in which the WTTC evaluated the effect of tourism on the Mozambican economy, the country after having welcomed 1.57 million visitors, witnessed an increase of 2.48 million in 2018. It is expected to reach 3.59 million visitors in 2028. However, tourism in Mozambique has been affected harshly due to the pandemic.
The entire African continent is well-known for its rich diversity of cultures, languages, wildlife and landscapes, where Mozambique enjoys the privilege of combining all these elements in one country. Mozambique is both a coastal paradise – with 2,500 kms of white-sand beaches and an extensive coastline and abundance of wildlife, with conservation projects covering about 15% of the country’s surface area.
Although Mozambique offers unspoiled beaches, perfect nature, eco-tourism, along with a rich historical landscape of cathedrals and colonial architecture, its tourism sector remains largely underutilized, especially when compared to other African tourist hotspots like neighboring South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
