There is a lot to say about his cine reign. He worked as a drillmaster before entering the film industry. He loves acting, so he went to chennai and made efforts. Opportunities were not quick as usual. He worked in the direction department for some years. Back then mohan babu played small roles in few movies. In the movie Kannavari Kallu starring Shobhan Babu, he played a small role too. Similarly, in Superstar Krishna’s ‘Alluri Seetharama Raju’ he appeared as a groom who was going to marry Vijayanirmala.
It was then he got the attention of Darshakaratna dasari narayana rao and selected mohan babu as a hero in the movie Swargam Narakam. He was the one who changed the name of Bhakta Vatsalam Naidu to Mohan Babu. That movie became a super hit. However, mohan babu did not get a chance to be a hero immediately. He proved his talent as a villain and comedian in a variety of roles. In 1982, he set up his banner and pledged himself as the film hero. That was a super hit. After that, some movies were made under their banner. However, as the hits did not come, he again played the villain role and a character artist. He finally turned his back in the 1990s with the movie Alludu Garu. At one point he even earned the title of Collection King. So did all the mohan babu blockbusters in the 1990s. he has done over 500 films so far but his thirst for acting is not over yet.
